Kinkakuji Temple (the temple of Golden Pavilion), built in Kyoto's northern hills in 1398 by Yoshimitsu, the third Ashikaga shogun (and became a Zen Temple when he died). Reconstructed over the original temple burned in 1950. Added to Unesco's World Heritage List in 1994. Kyoto, Kinki (Kansai) Region. Japan. Image taken: October 2004
