Second grade school children using small hand held nets to gather aquatic life from a fresh water stream. The Makiki stream runs through the lush tropical forest above Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA. The Hawaii Nature Center began as a project of the Outdoor Circle in 1981 and is dedicated to fostering awareness, appreciation and understanding of Hawaii and its natural environment. Through an outdoor educational experience wise stewardship of the precious Island ecosystems is taught to Hawaii�s youth.
