Poster Art-Print Description:
The MV Uchuck III started life in 1942 as a 136 foot American Mine Sweeper and was refitted as a working coastal vessel. As of 2003 she had been serving the area for 40 years and has been totally refitted to accommodate 100 passengers and carry up to 100 tons of cargo. Today she sails historic Nootka Sound, Esperanza Inlet and along the West Coast of Vancouver Island to Kyuquot. For travellers there are year round weekly overnight trips to Zeballos or Kyuquot and seasonal day trips to Friendly Cove in Nootka Sound, trips that provide an opportunity to watch a working vessel providing cargo and passenger service to the remote and isolated areas in this wild and scenic area. Her name, Uchuck, is derived from the Nootkan language of the West Coast native people and meaning "Healing Waters"
