A man uses a chainsaw to make rough cuts of a wooden canoe during the International Festival of Canoes in Maui. The International Festival of Canoes lasts for 15 days during which time authentic wooden canoes are created form solid logs. On the last day of the festival, a ceremonial launching of the canoes takes place. The festival celebrates the traditions of the Polynesian people.
