The landing on the second floor is very balanced with the Paladian windows on the second floor mirroring the windows in the doorway below. This house is part of the museum's permanent exhibit which includes this Federalist Period house. The house was constructed in 1801 for Major Hugh McLellan, who was the owner of Maine's largest shipping fleet and founder of Maine’s first bank and first insurance company.
